Mission Statement: The goal of the SBA is to educate association members and the public about honeybees, beekeeping and related arts, to provide a resource for established beekepers, to aid new beekeepers in bee mangement techniques, to inform the public about the value of honeybees, and to promote beekeeping in general.
Member Benefits: We hold regularly scheduled club meetings with speakers that provide information on a wide range of beekeeping topics. We provide mentors for new beekeepers, and organize beginner beekeeping classes held at Harford Community College that are approximately six weeks long. As a club we help our members by organizing bulk purchases of fondant and honey containers that are distributed at the club's monthly meeting locations. The club also has honey harvesting equipment that can be borrowed by members at no charge.
Young Beekeeper Grant Program: If you are 14 to 18 years of age, residing in the Harford or Cecil County area, and are interested in beekeeping, you are elibible to apply for the SBA Young Beekeeper Grant. This ongoing grant is offered to promote interest in beekeeping among young adults. For more information see the Young Beekeepers Grant program page.
